Through community participation and government funding, Katfish Reach has established itself as a successful Demonstration Reach within the South Australian Murray-Darling Basin region. Throughout 2017/2018 the Katfish Reach has been developing the Upstream Educational Kit based on the kids book ‘Upstream’.
The pack developed includes a calico bag, stuffed characters who feature in the kids book, a teachers’ educational resource pack and copies of the Upstream storybook.
The teachers’ educational resource pack is linked to current curriculum and gives background information on Katfish Reach, interesting facts about storybook characters and suggests classroom and outdoor educational activities.
Approximately 73 schools, 40 childcare centres and 328 libraries within the SA Murray Darling Basin region received the pack.
